Spinal Stenosis2019-01-24T02:27:29+00:00

Spinal Stenosis is a narrowing of the spinal canal, or vertebrae. As we age and grow older there can be a tendency for the spinal bones to begin to thicken in certain areas, and as a result can choke off the spinal nerve, or even worse the spinal cord. This results the patient suffering with back pain, lower back pain, sciatica, numbness, tingling, weakness, and even difficulty walking.
Causes of Stenosis
  • Degeneration, and arthritis, or an uneven wear and tear on the spine from old injuries, car accidents, and poor posture.
  • Osteoarthritis (arthritis) causes the formation of bone spurs which grow over time, and eventually pinch or choke off the vital nerves, causing severe pain to the patient.
There are a number of medical treatments for Spinal Stenosis, however these do not treat the true cause of the stenosis, they only treat the symptoms. Your primary care physician will most likely prescribe medications, epidurals, or cortisone injections. When these options are exhausted spinal surgery may be recommended. All of which have serious side effects, certain risks, further degeneration, and only mask the pain, they do nothing to treat the true cause of the problem.
